The picture attached here is of the front porch of the amazin' blonde's and my 1902 house. The brick steps leading up to the front porch are what my "helper" and I did during the Covid days.
I say "helper," the amazin' blonde helped by handing me brick and giving me encouragement along the way. She may have complained just a little about my scratching her hand when I would snatch one out of her hands. But she was a fast learner and figured out that you leave your thumb off of the brick when you hold it out to a bricklayer. Those raw "strawberries" on your thumb will teach you that lesson pretty quickly. But she was very good, especially for the wages she made. :)
We had fun doing the work, even though it is on the east side and the sun beat down on us pretty hard by ten a.m. My helper didn't think I was paying her enough for her to be out in the hot sun, but she endured it, and she gave me the privilege of bossing her around, for once.
But I think the brick steps leading up to the front porch give an appropriate picture of our having stepped up on the porch together for our many, many talks we have done through the years in our Front-Porch-Gospel visits.
I'm looking forward to many more. So, come on up those brick steps and let's talk again, here on the "front porch." ~ Coach :)

Bible-Reading Conversation #1
Beginning in September, we started a new series of studies in the book of Revelation at my home congregation at the Church of Christ of Red Oak, one we called "Conversations in Revelation." Everyone seems to like the approach because often we get bogged down with the vast symbolism of Revelation and cannot come to understand it at all.
So, we thought we would just go through the book and have a "discussion," just to, more casually perhaps, talk about some of the great lessons and teachings from that book. I thought it would be good to take a similar approach to our 2024 BIBLE READING. Let's just read along and see where the Word of God leads us and talk about whatever it is that comes to mind.
For example, this morning -- Thursday, Feb. 15 -- I ran across several key ideas, but one in particular I'll mention here. In Exodus 40:1, the Lord, after giving Moses a long list of specifications regarding the tabernacle, tells him when to begin the tabernacle service. He says to begin it "On the first day of the first month" (40:2).
One writer points out this: "We must not put off any necessary duty under pretense of waiting for some remarkable day; the present season is the most convenient." That thought is from the commentator Matthew Henry, one of my favorite writers, one who wrote back in the 16 and 1700s.
Taking Mr. Henry's point, let's begin some conversations from our Bible reading. If you do not have a particular reading plan, I'll include the one I've listed here, where we read from the O.T,, N.T, Psalms, and Proverbs.
Oh, don't worry if you miss a day or two. Sometimes I do that and just pick up on the current day. I can go back if I want -- or, I can just use that as my STARTING point. The key is to start and not wait until some "remarkable day" but try to meditate on what it is we can find in God's Word today.
We will be amazed how timely will be any day's reading and how the Lord will guide us along wherever we are, how He will speak to us right where we're sitting. We just have to listen.
Looking forward to our many conversations! God bless! ~ 2-15-24
